I’ve broken down this list into things you can do in the morning, afternoon, and night, and some things you can do anytime of day, whenever it works!

Morning Habits

Here are a few self love habits you can add to your morning routine.

1. Start with Gratitude

Grateful moms raise grateful children! Spend a few minutes when you wake up listing three things you’re grateful for.

2. Affirmations

Positive affirmations are such a great way to start your day and it helps you be a positive role model for your kids. Each morning, look in the mirror and say something positive to yourself like, “I am a great mom,” or “I deserve joy,” or “I’m exactly who my children need.”

3. Drink Water First

This is so simple, but so important! Before reaching for your coffee, hydrate your body with a quick glass of water. You might be surprised how much better you feel.

4. Move Your Body

Moving your body in any way will help you feel so much better. Whether your a workout-junkie or you just want to stretch, add some type of movement to your morning self love routine.

5. Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Eat something in the morning so you don’t find yourself fatigued and snappy later in the day.

Midday Habits

6. Take a 5-Minute Breather

It’s ok to take a break mama! People out in the workforce get multiple breaks in a day, so you should too. Step outside or find a quiet spot in your home to just close your eyes and breathe deeply. This is especially helpful when you feel yourself getting tense or about to lose your cool.

7. Dance Party

Have a dance party alone or with your kids! Dancing helps to release tension plus it’s a total mood booster, which is great for your entire family. So ask Alexa to play some of your favorite tunes and dance it out Meredith and Cristina style. (IYKYK!)

8. Take a Drive

Getting out of the house is essential for everyone’s mental well-being. Take a quick drive, run errands, or stop at the library just so you can get out of the house. If driving isn’t an option, just taking a walk or playing in the backyard is helpful.

9. Nourish Yourself

This needs to be said again because it’s that important. Eat a real lunch and nourish yourself! No skipping meals mama. Eating your child’s PB&J crust doesn’t count.

10. Reflect on Wins

It becomes common as a mom to dwell on everything we did wrong in a day. But what about everything you did RIGHT? Each night, write down at least one thing you did well today. Even if it’s something small. There is always a daily win to be happy about!

11. Unplug

Whether you realize it or not, our phones are major distractions. Each night, I suggest from dinner time until bedtime, put away your phone and focus on family time. This is especially important if you have school aged kids who are in school add day. Take this couple hours at the end of the day to be completely present with them and you’ll realize you feel less guilty about everything else.

12. Pamper Yourself

Take a little time for you each night once your kids are in bed. Maybe use a face mask, light a candle, or take a warm bath. Whatever feels like a treat to you is great! You deserve to take a few simple moments are the end of the day to recharge for tomorrow.

Anytime Self Love Habits

These “anytime self love habits” are a great practice to add into your life at anytime.

13. Set Boundaries

Setting boundaries is extremely important when you’re a mom. They help prevent mom burnout and keep you sane. Make sure to say “no” to obligations that drain you and don’t align with your priorities! This doesn’t make you difficult or mean, it makes you strong!

14. Practice Self-Compassion

Self-compassion is the kindness you show yourself. When you make a mistake, forgive yourself and move on. Mistakes will happen because you’re human, dwelling on them won’t help you though. It’s always healthier to validate and move forward!

15. Reconnect with a Hobby

Having a hobby can help you feel like more than “just a mom.” Try to dedicate even 10 minutes a day to something you love, like reading, crafting, or gardening. Find something simple, free, and that you can do right at home so you can actually enjoy it!

16. Connect with Your Husband

Take time at the end of each day to reconnect with your husband/partner. Nothing shows self-love than making sure your relationship is loving and meaningful. And since kids take up so much of our time, it’s a good idea each day to make intentional time to connect with your husband. It can be a conversation about work, a hug, or watching a tv show together.

We all need a little help sometimes! Don’t be afraid to delegate daily tasks to your husband or even your children. You can also lean on your village or other stay at home mom friends for some support. Asking for help doesn’t make you a bad mom, it makes you completely normal! Motherhood was not meant to be done alone.

Final Thoughts
