Motivation for Stay At Home Moms
In a world that probably makes you feel damned if you do and damned in you don’t, we all need some motivation and support. Stay at home moms seem to constantly be under scrutiny about every little thing we do, yet we have a really important job. The most important, in my opinion! Keep reading for some must-read motivation that every stay at home mom should hear way more often than she does!
1. You’re doing a great job, this is important work too.
Remind yourself often, make it your mantra…”I’m doing a great job.” Or, “I’m a great mama!” Because you are. Motherhood is challenging, but you shouldn’t be down on yourself about it. If no one will remind you, then remind yourself that you’re great. Being a stay at home mom is just as important as any other job. Being a stay at home mom IS a job. You are responsible for raising little humans who will go on to do great things for this world someday, and that is important.
2. You are allowed to have an identity outside of motherhood.
Don’t lose yourself in motherhood…find a newer, better version of yourself. Motherhood changes you, and that’s ok. Go with it and become a version of you you didn’t know existed. Remember that it’s ok to have hobbies and interests outside of being a mom. You can do things without your kids and you don’t have to feel guilty about it. You can have something that just for you and it’s all ok. In fact, I truly think it helps you be a better mom when you have something for yourself that you love.
3. Everything you do is always enough.
I’ve learned from being a stay at home mom for almost 8 years that it’s ok to make mistakes. That everything I’m doing on the daily for my kids is absolutely enough. Motherhood is about balance. Some days will be better than others. But no matter what you do, even if you watched too much TV one day, or fed your kids McDonalds, or only dress them in hand-me-downs…it’s enough. You’re doing the best you can and you just need to let that be enough.
Final thoughts
Sometimes you might need to be your own motivation! And that’s ok. Let’s remind all our mama friends of these 3 sweet and encouraging phrases. Let’s challenge each other to be better and help each other out. It’s so important the moms come together to support and love one another for the sake of our own mental health and for our kids. When they grow up seeing moms support and help each other, they will continue to do that same. So repeat these phrases often to yourself, and spread the love to your mom friends!
