Even though I’m a summer girl through and through, autumn feels like a fresh start. There seems to always be something to do and maybe it’s being in New England, but it also seems to be everyone’s favorite time of year! So in this blog, I’m giving you 22 fun family activities you can enjoy together this fall.

There’s really nothing better than family time and so let’s dive in and make all those ‘Ber months unforgettable! Here are 22 bucket list ideas for fall so your family can make the sweetest memories. Keep reading for a fun printable bucket list at the end of this blog!

1. Go Apple Picking

There’s no way you can get through fall without apple picking (especially in New England.) Go to your favorite farm and pick and eat all the apples you can get your hands on. Then make sure to make lots of yummy treats with those apples!

2. Go on a Hay Ride

Kids love hay rides/tractor rides. They are different and fun and those bumpy rides can make any kid laugh!

3. Go to the Fair

Fairs are always a fun family time. With lots of yummy food, cute animals, and arcade games, you can’t go wrong. Fairs and festivals are a huge hit in New England plus they’re usually pretty inexpensive for admission. Bundle up and enjoy a night at the fair and make it a fun family tradition!

4. Make Jack-O-Lanterns

This can get a little messy, but I bet you will have lots of laughs! Grab a big pumpkin and carve just one, together as a family!

5. Go to a Football Game

Even if you’re not super into sports, football can feel nostalgic and be a fun family event! Go to your old high school or your local high school and catch a game under the Friday night lights!

6. Make a “Thankful Tree”

Make a “Thankful Tree” for your family and hang it up. Use brown construction paper for the tree trunk and then use cut-outs of your children’s handprints for the leaves. On each handprint write what that person is thankful for. Hang it up where you can see it everyday and talk about the importance of feeling thankful!

7. Go to a Corn Maze

This is such a great one for kids! Go to a farm with a corn maze and find your way through it together. Your kids will truly feel like they are on an adventure. You could even let them take the lead so they can help you find your way out!

8. Make Your Own Halloween Costumes

If you’re going trick-or-treating or to a Halloween party, make your own costumes!

9. Host a Halloween Party

As a follow up to number 8, you can host a Halloween Party! Make spooky-themed treats, get a fog machine, and play some scream-worthy games with other families.

10. Take a Scenic Drive

Go for a ride in the car and see all the changing leaves during this beautiful time of year!

11. Go on a Nature Walk

Get outside on a sunny day and go for a Fall Nature Walk. There is so much to explore in the fall and new things to see!

12. Have a Backyard Campfire

Have a family campfire in the backyard. Make s’mores and tell spooky ghost stories!

13. Decorate for Fall

Decorate your house or your front porch for fall but do it together as a family!

14. Jump in Leaves

Make that backyard fall clean up FUN. Rake leaves together into a pile and jump into the leaves! Make sure to take lots of pictures, because you’re bound to make lots of memories.

You know those professional photos you’ve been meaning to take? Well, why not plan a photo shoot for fall! The changing leaves make the best backdrop for family pictures and fall clothes make the best attire. They will be photos you look back on for years to come!

Fall has the best sweet treats! Make pumpkin muffins, apple crisp or apple pie, pumpkin brownies, or caramel apples. Find a new recipe and enjoy a new treat together.

Make some cute fall crafts with your kiddos! This pumpkin patch craft is great for any age and will serve as a wonderful memento!
