    1. Your House Will Never Be Quiet

They say girls never stop talking, but trust me boys don’t either. From the moment they wake up to the second they pass out, boys bring the volume. Crashes, bangs, and sound effects (omg so many sound effects) will become your daily background noise. And it doesn’t stop as they get older.

    2. You’ll Become an Expert in Weird Smells

Boy moms quickly learn that little boys can generate odors that defy science. Shoes, sweaty heads, mysterious socks will all have their own unique (and sometimes terrifying) scent. Seriously, wet soccer cleats, and bananas forgotten in backpacks will haunt your nose for life.

    3. They Climb EVERYTHING

Start taking deep breaths now because if there’s a surface, a boy will climb it. Furniture? Yes. Doorways? Absolutely. Random walls? Somehow, yes. Be prepared to say “Get down from there!” at least 12 times a day. Boys are fearless and energetic, a truly scary combination, but I recommend getting use to it and maybe just not looking.

    4. Rough and Tumble is Their Love Language

Boys love wrestling from toddlers to elementary school aged. Hugs often come with headbutts, snuggles might involve elbow jabs, and affection can sometimes look like a full-body tackle. No joke. I hope you’re doing your pushups, mama, you’re gonna need some strength!

    5. You’ll Learn More About Dinosaurs, Cars, and Trains Than You Ever Imagined

I don’t know what it is about dinos, trains, and construction vehicles but boys love them. Whatever your son chooses to obsess over, you’ll know everything about it. Brace yourself for random dinosaur facts, debates over the fastest race cars, or an impressive knowledge of construction vehicles. Like you will know the difference between an excavator and a backhoe. Oh and also, you’ll be impressed by the big words your little boy can somehow say! Did someone say brachiosaurus?

    6. Everything is a Weapon

I really hate to break it to you and this will probably drive you nuts, but I promise it’s normal. Boys somehow make everything a weapon. A stick will become a sword. A spoon will become a sword. That random piece of cardboard will obviously become a ninja star. It’s best to just go with it instead of telling him to knock it off.

    7. They Have a Superhuman Amount of Energy

When my son was a toddler, he could literally run in circles around our yard for an hour straight. It seems impossible, but boys can run full speed, jump, wrestle, and spin in circles all day long without getting tired. It’s impressive, honestly.

    8. Potty Training Will Test Your Patience

Potty training is hard, potty training a boy might be close to torture. Aim is full on questionable and he probably won’t care if he wets his pants over and over again. You may want to invest in some extra cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and some new clothes altogether because the mess will be endless. You’ll wonder how pee can hit the ceiling and how poop can get all over a toilet seat. Godspeed, good luck! 🙂

    9. They’re Obsessed With Gross Things

Boys love gross things, so since you’re a boy mom you should get use to that right now! They will think farts are hilarious and mud will be irresistible. Boys think bugs are fascinating and they will want to touch slimy things. Like I said, just embrace it and roll with it, mama!

    10. You’ll Say Things You Never Thought You’d Say

Being a boy mom means saying things like:

“No, you can’t lick the grocery cart.”
    “Please stop climbing the fridge.”
“We do NOT put LEGOs in our noses.”
“Is that chocolate on your hands or poop?”
“Don’t wipe your boogers on the wall, please.”

Enough said. You get the point.

    11. They Can Be Incredibly Sweet

Amidst all the wildness that is being a boy mom and just when you think they’ll never slow down, they’ll melt your heart with a random “I love you, Mommy” or a sleepy snuggle. They’ll play with your hair or put their little hand on your heart and you realize all the chaos is obviously worth it!

    12. They Have an Unbreakable Bond With Their Mama

There’s a reason there’s the term “Boy Mama.” Boy moms know there is truly something special about the way little boys adore their mama! You’re their first love, their safe place, and their biggest hero. Don’t take that lightly!

    13. Dirt Is Inevitable

Boys attract dirt like magnets. It doesn’t matter if they just had a bath, somehow five minutes later, they’ll be covered in something questionable. Their fingernails will always have dirt underneath them and their clothes will always be dirty. Get ready to do lots of laundry!

    14. Their Clothes Will Always Have Holes

This will make your eyes roll behind your head every time, but somehow your little boy’s clothes will always have holes in them! Pants, even jeans, and yes, even the “reinforced knee” clothing will be ripped at the knees quickly. His shoes will be scuffed within days, and the toes will have holes in them eventually. And don’t even get my started on socks. Those are somehow always destroyed! My best advice is to take advantage of hand-me-downs and thrifting.

    15. You’ll Need a Stash of Snacks at All Times

Boys are always hungry. ALWAYS! And their stomachs are like bottomless pits that can eat forever. So, make sure to carry snacks everywhere you go, or prepare to face the consequences! They take “hangry” to a whole new level. You’ve been warned. 😉

    16. They Love to Test Limits

They will test your limits everyday. Jumping off the couch? Running full speed indoors? Seeing how fast they can go on their bike? Climbing the highest trees. Yes to all of those. They love a good adrenaline rush and you will feel your heart drop into your stomach multiple times a day. I suggest trying your best just not to watch, because they are just being boys, you can’t stop it.

    17. They Have the Best Imaginations

Boy’s imaginations are wild and amazing, so make sure you nurture that. Whether they are superheroes, explorers, or pirates, boys can turn the most ordinary day into a seriously epic adventure!

    18. They Need Room to Roam

Boys usually can’t still for long, like forget coloring or play-doh. Give them a backyard, a park, or a field, and they’ll be happy for hours. They must be on the move always. Keeping them cooped up for too long could be a complete disaster. Prepare yourself to be on-the-go more often than not, relaxing is not allowed!

    19. You’ll Find Boogers in Unimaginable Places

I really hate to break this to you, but tissues could be in front of your sweet, handsome boy and he will choose to pick his boogers with his fingers. Then he will wipe them on the wall, the couch, or the bed. Or wherever is easiest to place it so he can bounce off to the next place. If that makes you wanna puke, I get it, I want to puke too. But this is the life of a boy mom.🙃

    20. You Wouldn’t Trade It for the World

Being a boy mom is an incredible, love-filled adventure. Yes, it’s exhausting and overwhelming and non-stop and even disgusting! But the bond you share with your little guy makes it all worth it. Remember that the next time you find boogers on your clothes! haha!

    Final Thoughts

Oh the joys of being a boy mom are endless! They will keep you on your toes for sure but you will learn to embrace the chaos. Life with boys is messy, very loud, and seriously exhausting, but it’s also hilarious, heartwarming, and full of happiness and smiles!
