How Do I Make An Evening Routine?
Creating an evening routine is just like creating any other routine. You must set up the top 3 to 5 things are the most important for you to get done. Write those things down and then start doing it. Consistency is key! You must do these things every single day and before you know it, it will be a habit. You will start your evening routine without even thinking about it after a couple week.
Evening Routine For Stay At Home Moms
First things first, an evening routine runs from 4:00 to 6:00. After that I consider it my kid’s bedtime routine. So in this blog I’m bringing you through the hours from 4 to 6 PM. This is exactly what I do in my house every single day during these hours and I think it’s going to be so helpful for you!
Evening Routine 4:00
Spending time with my kids, RELAXING! This is important because I think our kids need to see us relax throughout the day. They need to know it’s ok and it’s healthy for their mom to sit down and just hang out. So we might watch TV, cuddle on the couch and chat about school, or I read while sitting with my kids and they’re doing their own thing.
4:30 PM
I start dinner at 4:30. My kids either play in their playroom or run around outside while I make dinner. If it’s been a day, yes they watch TV because sometimes I need a minute!
5:00 PM
My family and I all eat dinner together at the kitchen table! Is this something you do? Tell me in the comments please. Anyway, we sit together to eat, we talk about our favorite part of our day and the least favorite part of our day. We laugh and enjoy each other’s company without any technology too!
5:30 PM
After dinner, my husband and I clean up the kitchen right away. Dishes get washed and/or put in the dishwasher, the counter and table is washed down, and the floor is swept. Do it right way or it will.not.get.done! And this is one of those things that will make your morning successful – wake up to a clean kitchen! You won’t regret it and you will automatically feel good when you wake up.
After the kitchen is cleaned up, my husband hangs out with our kids and I pack lunch boxes for the next morning. This is another HUGE thing you can do at night time, that will help your mornings be seamless and stress-free. Pack lunches the night before, add it into your routine, it takes maybe 10 minutes, and it makes a world of a difference in the morning.
6:00 PM
This is when we start our bedtime routine for my kids, which includes showers/baths, a bedtime snack, pajamas, reading books, etc. You can read more about our bedtime routine here. But this is the end of my evening routine!
Final Thoughts
I believe simple routines truly are the key to having successful and productive days. This evening routine for stay at home moms is a great way to end your day productively, it allows you time to yourself once your kids are in bed to do whatever you want, and it sets up your tomorrow to be great too! It’s really a win-win-win if you ask me.
