What if I don’t enjoy motherhood?
If you’ve caught yourself thinking this from time to time, my guess is you’re not alone. I truly believe you can simultaneously LOVE being a mom while also not enjoying every aspect of motherhood. Both can be true. So I’m guessing, it’s not that you don’t enjoy motherhood…there’s just some parts of it that are demanding and overwhelming which can cause you to feel burdened and just burnt out. Which ultimately makes you feel like you don’t like motherhood. Don’t worry, there is nothing wrong with you! That’s why today, I’m sharing 5 quick tips to help you enjoy motherhood again.
5 Ways To Enjoy Motherhood
Honestly, there are many ways you can start enjoying motherhood more. Below are my top 5 ways I think you can start feeling less overwhelmed, burnt out, and just not like yourself. I truly believe these tips can serve as a starting point for moms who are looking to reignite their joy in motherhood while managing the everyday challenges. Let’s dive in!
1. Set Boundaries and Prioritize Self-Care
It’s easy to lose yourself in the day-to-day demands of motherhood, but setting boundaries and making self-care a priority is essential. Whether it’s a quiet morning routine, a weekly hobby, or simply taking a few minutes to breathe, these moments can recharge you and help you feel more balanced. Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t selfish! It’s necessary for being the best mom you can be.
2. Create a Flexible Routine
A flexible routine can help you feel more in control without adding extra stress. Focus on creating a daily rhythm that works for you and your family. This might include meal prepping on weekends, setting up specific times for household tasks, or designating “mom time” during your day. A routine can give you much needed structure in your day while also allowing for the unexpected. Because we all know how unpredictable motherhood can be!

3. Delegate and Ask for Help
You don’t have to do it all! Share the load with your husband/partner, involve your kids in age-appropriate chores, or reach out to family and friends for support. I know it can be hard but asking for help doesn’t make you less of a mom, I promise! It truly shows your strength and commitment to creating a healthy environment for your family and yourself. Think of what you’re teaching your children when they see their mom ask for a little help!
4. Find Your Mom Tribe
Surrounding yourself with other supportive and like-minded moms can make a world of difference. Whether it’s a local mom’s group, an online community, or a few close friends, having people who understand your challenges and joys can provide comfort and inspiration. Your tribe can lift you up, offer advice, or just be there to listen.
5. Focus on the Moments that Matter
It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and dwelling on the negative aspects of mom life. But taking time to appreciate the small, meaningful moments can really shift your perspective. Whether it’s a quiet cuddle, a child’s laugh, or a proud parenting moment, these are the memories that make the journey worthwhile. Practicing gratitude can help you focus on the positive aspects of motherhood and remind you why you love being a mom.
Final Thoughts
It’s time to enjoy motherhood because you didn’t have kids to feel overwhelmed and irritated more often than not! From setting boundaries, to finding your mom tribe, to focusing on the small moments, you can find joy again in this incredible journey. Remember, you love being a mom, but you don’t enjoy everything about motherhood and that’s ok! Once you accept those feelings and allow yourself to feel ok in the ups and down of motherhood, you will be able to enjoy it more, without feeling like a terrible mom.
